In order for you to get a better understanding about the work we do, we thought it will be a good idea to also show you who we are! Please meet Chris, our new software developer and passionate tinkerer!

How did you come to be a part of the PolyMetrix team?

Following a placement in my third year, where I was developing apps and automated systems, I was recommended to PolyMetrix through one of my university tutors. After a conversation with our charismatic CEO, I was really excited by not just the company’s vision but also the technical challenges I would be working on.

‍What will you be working on at PolyMetrix?

Initially, I’ll be developing an app that lets anyone benefit from the technology we’re creating at PolyMetrix. It essentially will allow users to take a scan of their face using their iPhone camera and send it to our systems. After that, I’ll be helping develop the cloud architecture - making sure the technology is secure and scalable.

What are you most excited for?

Getting to work in such an early stage start-up has always been something I’ve wanted to do and I’m really excited to help shape the way the company grows going forward. Beyond that, developing new skills and getting hands on experience is what will be getting me up in the mornings.

What were you doing before you joined the team?

For the last 4 years, I’ve been completing my Masters in Design Engineering at Imperial College London - recently graduating with first class honours. During my degree I specialised in systems design, designing anything from smart urban agricultural interventions to robotic systems for the disassembly of waste electronics.
Before this, I worked in a start-up spun out of the University of Cambridge working to develop the next generation of GaN transistors. My role there was to develop automated testing suites which integrated with the cloud allowing engineers to set-up and run tests on their PCBs from anywhere.

What do you like to do when you aren’t in the office?

During the winter, I love spending time in the mountains on my snowboard. Otherwise, I’m a keen tinkerer, building whatever has recently piqued my interest. Currently, I’m build an automated hydroponic system so I can get affordable fresh herbs for my cooking.

Chris has already had a hugely positive impact on PolyMetrix, both with his work and his contribution to our culture & we can't wait to see what work he does!
